SMELK_A Bill of Sale Dialogues James Baldwin I’ll tell you a story if I may Many years ago when I first came to London I was in the British Museum, naturally, and one of the West Indian’s that worked there started a conversation with me. He wanted to know where I was from, and I told him I was from Harlem. That answer didn’t satisfy him. And I didn’t understand what he meant. I was born in Harlem, Harlem hospital, I was born in New York, and that didn’t satisfy him. “Where was your mother born?” I said she was born in Maryland I could see although I didn’t understand it, he was growing more and more disgusted with me. He was getting more and more impatient. “Where was your father born?” My father was born in New Orleans. “Yes but man, where were you born?” Then I began to get it, so I said, my Mother was born in Maryland, my father was born in New Orleans, I was born in New York. “Yes, but before that, where were you born?” I and had to say “I don’t know.” I tried to explain, uh… “Well don’t you care enough to find out?” And as I explained, “If I were originally from Dakar or wherever it was in Africa, I couldn’t find out where it was because my entry into America is a bill of sale. Dialogue from Dirty Pretty Things “How come I’ve never seen you people before?” That’s because we are the people you don’t see. “How come I’ve never seen you people before?” That’s because we are the people you don’t see. Because we are the people that drive your cabs, clean your rooms, ….and suck your cocks. Dialogue from Putney Swope Putney Swope: If those outsiders what to talk to me, they’re gonna have to talk to my face. No more telephones, too much communication. Man A: If we don’t have telephones, how are we gonna conduct business? Putney: With your head and your soul If you want reality, I’m gonna put you back out on the street Odinga: The dude’s right, we don’t need telephones. I can get a message to California quicker than you can make a phone call. Man A: How Odinga: The Drum Man B: Say what? Odinga: The drum Putney: What’s that? Odinga: Vibrations Seconds later, The Arab enters… The Arab: I heard you fired Odinga Swope: How did you find out? The Arab: The drum Vincent Price Ladies and gentlemen, poison doesn’t always come in bottles. And it isn’t always marked with the skull and crossbones of danger. Poison can take the form of words and phrases and acts: the venom of racial and religious hatred. perhaps more than ever before, we must learn to recognize the poison of prejudice and to discover the antidote to its dangerous effects. Evidences of racial and religious hatred in our country place a potent weapon in the hands of our enemies, providing them with the ammunition of criticism. Moreover, group hatred menaces the entire fabric of democratic life. As for the antidote: you can fight prejudice, first by recognizing it for what it is, and second by actively accepting or rejecting people on their individual worth, and by speaking up against prejudice and for understanding. Remember, freedom and prejudice can’t exist side by side. If you choose freedom, fight prejudice. Sun Ra I’m an Angel, an Angel I’m not Man, I will not take responsibility for what Man has done. I’m not very proud of Man. I’m an Angel. I’m not very proud of Man. I’m an Angel, an Angel. Dialogue from Dirty Pretty Things How come I’ve never seen you people before? Because we are the people you do not see.

KingLMan Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Spain

KingLMan is a vehicle of one that is nailed to a wall of wonderment and disgust. Messages propelled by the kick drum fused with sounds sampled from cracked vinyl or found in abandoned buildings liberate a torched soul.
KingLMan is not a claim to royalty, it’s where history's presence forms a letter of appreciation for having witnessed goodness and greatness.
We don’t do silence.
